A disabled-friendly latrine prototype

This brief outlines the implementation of iDE's disabled-friendly latrine prototype and the application of their innovative "Interlocking Bricks" in Cambodia.  The lessons learned from development of this prototype are explored and a vision for the future is presented.

This is an interesting read for any WASH practitioner interested in the challenges in providing disabled-friendly sanitation services and innovative solutions for overcoming these.

I am wondering if there is a longer article on accessible latrines. I work in the disability section at DFAT and would like to know more about this. On another matter are you aware of DFAT Accessibility Design Guide?

Dear Anne. Thanks for your interest in this topic. I've forwarded your request for more detailed information onto our CSO colleagues. We are aware of the DFAT Accessibility Design Guide thank you and have shared it with CSOs in the Fund in our July 2015 newsletter.
For those interested, the Guide is available here:

There is some useful information about latrine design in the WaterAid Compendium of Accessible WASH Technologies.
